ANSWER BY CUSTOMER A: If you haven't already found the answer, yes it will help mount a double din in an Escape, but you do have to cut the sub-dash (behind the silver bezel) to get it to fit. It's something that you'll never see but supposedly the factory deck can't be slid back in once it's done. I don't see why you couldn't just re-frame it with plastic and epoxy but that's neither here nor there. If you search yahoo for "Ford Escape double din" and look for the thread on Escape-city there's a guy that has what appears to be this kit. Otherwise I'll be installing my new clarion deck with this kit this weekend if you want more detail just post your email on here.
