Answered by AutoToys Staff A: Yes, for all D2B devices, such as this unit, it will eliminate the cd changer, if present, because it emulates a cd changer. Normally, your new Ipod will be your new changer since it holds a LOT MORE MUSIC anyway. Cd changers are outdated.

Answered by AutoToys Staff A: This kit does USB already. It does NOT do ipod without the optional cable, see the IP05DC9. Without this cable, you wont get ipod. You cannot use the USB to APPLE cable, you MUST use the DENSION cable and it is dedicated. Without it, ipod wont work. There are no controls on your radio for ipod mode. It is audio only.

Control of the iPod is from the click wheel and all functions will operate as normal, however the skip buttons on your radio (or steering wheel) can be used to move forward and backwards through your tracks. The device will also charge while it is plugged in to the Gateway Lite. If your USB device has a folder structure, or playlists, these can be accessed by selecting the corresponding CD number on your changer controls, up to the number of CDs your changer control is capable of handling, i.e. CD1 will play folder 1, CD2 will play folder 2 etc.

Control at your fingertips
When connected into the car, Gateway Lite emulates a CD changer (usually, sometimes it’s an auxiliary input), and the radio accepts the music signal sent into it by the iPod or USB and plays it back through the audio system speakers. You can control your iPod from the clickwheel in the normal way, and once you’ve selected the music you want, you can skip a track you don’t like by using the FFWD butto on your radio or steering wheel. Of course, every Gateway Lite comes with a comprehensive user manual, but if you need to get started quickly, select the CD changer function, plug your iPod into the dock cable or cradle and you will have music.
