4x6 speakers are often called plate speakers, found in many older GM, NISSAN and American cars. 4x6 speakers are just that, exactly 4x6. Sometimes the factory will have a tweeter off to the side with a woofer on the other half. ANY aftermarket 4x6 speaker will dramatically improve your sound in your car. Older cars with old 4x6s probably have sun-damaged speakers which need replacing.
