Author: Eric Majewski I bought a more expensive kit from a local car audio store - I believe because it was pretty much a whole kit to fit 90% of all Japanese makes. Long and short of it, you toss out the remaining harnesses you don't use from the kit, but you can be pretty sure you're going to have the right plugs when you have your dash apart and spread out on the garage floor!
Installed on an '03 4Runner with JBL premium factory audio with 6-disc in-dash. Programmed with dip switches 1,2,4,6,8 turned on. Unlike some other brands, this one retains your steering wheel controls for volume and selecting the input, and the biggie -- no loss of sound as reported by people using other brands. I don't have to crank it way up to get the same volume I get from CD, FM, etc.
The sound from my Sirius radio is phenomenal. I have family that has complained about Sirius and XM either having static or a tinny sound, but they were using the FM modulators which limit your frequency response and can be subject to a whining sound from the electrical system -- which requires yet another add-on to solve.
In short, spend a little more to buy this and do it right the first time. You will not be sorry.
