Subject: 96 grand am
My tip is on the 96 grand am. When installing a
remote starter preferably the coolstart CS700II from
crimestopper. You will need a 555T from DEI basically its avats decoder bypass box. you are probly thinking so whatsthe big deal. well there is a big deal. the problem iswhen you go to check for resistance on the ribbon wire inthe steering column it is a changing value. here is whatyou have to do. set the dip switches so that the resisteris one value lower than the reading you have on your
meter. This way it will make up for the resistance in yourconnections. trust me this is the only way we have dealtwith the vehicle for about 20 hours befor i finally came tothis conclusion. if you set it for the exact resistance thecare will start about 10 times and the it will not evenstart with the key. the only way to get the car out of
theft mode is to leave the key in the run position for tenminutes. put a battery charger on the car though because itwill go dead in 4 minutes... any more inquires about this
