The following install guide highlights a installation of a DEI 550HF into a 1998 Toyota Camry. The wire locations and colors can apply to any alarm. The installation was performed by the technicians of Sound Conceptions / Autotoys.Com

DOORLOCK WIRES ARE SHOWN IN THE GREEN ARROWS
The wire colors are:

Light Green (-) Lock
Dark Green (-) Unlock

Door Trigger Wire is Red/White
Parking light flash is Dark Green with silver dots
Since this particular installation was also a remote start, we also tapped the brake wire here as a shortcut
The brake wire is (+) green with a white stripe
 

Show above is the clutch knock out for manual transmissions, since this car was a automatic, this is where we brought our wires through. Be sure to silicone this area to seal off any road noise and moisture.

SHOWN ABOVE IS THE TACH TAP using a 3M t-tap for the remote start tach monitor

SHOWN ABOVE IS WHERE TO REMOVE THE SCREWS TO REMOVE THE HUSH PANEL. One phillips head screw on the right, 2 behind the hood release latch, one 10mm phillips on the left, panel pulls down from the top (be careful) - After removal of plastic hush panel, there will be 2 10mm bolts, remove metal hush panel to access ignition wires.

This particular installation was an alarm and remote start. This has more wires than a normal alarm installation. You should cut and adjust your wiring to one location. Shown above is the completed harness to our alarm and remote start including the doorlock wires, shock sensor wires, led wire, valet wire, remote start shut down wires, main alarm harness and the remote start relay harness. Notice how we left just enough slack to plug the harnesses into the side of our alarm and how we planned it so it all ended up at once place (the alarm brain) which makes the installation neat and easy to service (to add options, etc). Sound Conceptions also tapes all of our wires with 3M electrical tape whenever possible. Of course, we have experience from thousands of 'security' installations alone, but with careful planning, your first security installation can be as easy & neat.
