Introduction: Products: Installation of a full featured alarm in a 1997 Toyota Corolla. This may be applied to any Corolla from 1993-1997 and any Geo Prism that falls in the same years also since they share the same wire colors and the same location for the wires! Installed by the staff of AUTOTOYS.COM
Shown above by color dots: Yellow: Door lock wires, all of your doorlock wires are located in the driver's kick panel. The lock wire is blue/white - The unlock wires are blue/yellow and are negative trip. Both of the wires have to be tied together and dioded from each other to disable the child safety lock circuit in the vehicle. Note the diode bands are pointing away from the circuits which prevents a ground from feeding back. Blue: Door trigger wire. There are 2 red wires with a white strip in this vehicle. Only one will control all 4 doors. It will show a ground when a door is open, the other wire will show ground only when the driver's door is open. Green: Your parking light wire (+) can be also found in this location, it is a green wire with silver dots on it. In Geo prisms, it may be a solid green wire. It will show + when the parking lights are turn on (test! with a multimeter) See how simple this is? Most of your wires are in ONE PLACE Trunk trigger, the trunk trigger wire if there is a trunk light in the trunk is a red/white wire located at the light in the trunk itself (-), no need for a pinswitch or current sensing if you have a light in the trunk!
Shown above is the power and ignition wires for the alarm. We can make the connections at the key location because the factory driver's hush panel is made of plastic and on the back is reinforced steel plate held in by 4 10mm bolts. There is no quick way to get to these connections without unbolting the driver's hush panel. The purple dot shows the ignition wire for the vehicle which is black with a yellow stripe. We t-tapped it with a 3M t-tap for our insulated male spades shown coming from alarm on the left shown with the blue dot. It plugs in and makes a very secure connection (we include 3 of these connections with each alarm purchase from AUTOTOYS.COM FREE OF CHARGE) The green dot shows where we made our starter kill connection. It is a black wire with a white stripe. In the corolla, it is a 16 gauge wire, normally in other vehicles especially american vehicles, it is of very heavy gauge. The red wire shows were we t-tap for the power source, 12 volt constant The purple box shows where advance users or professional installers can find horn honk wires, headlight illumination wire (which is negative by the way) and other wires. NOTE: In the purple box and in any harness with yellow tape or yellow loom is the SRS air bag wires, do NOT probe these wires or test them or your air bag may deploy. The LED, valet switch and the shock sensor on the alarm we used in this vehicle plugs into the alarm module, so not too many other wires had to be spliced and connected. Well, thats it! Simple as that: Be sure to visit our security section at All alarms purchase from AUTOTOYS.COM come with a free starter kit which includes: Free tech sheets highlighting vehicle colors (when available), butt connectors for starter kill connection, stainless steel self tapping screws for siren, additional butt connectors for other connections, T-taps and male spades and much more! ALL FREE! included with your purchase. Your advantage when your purchase from autotoys.com!
