BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY
Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several
hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real
cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 10 years, when you buy a product from us,
we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands
of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your
installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio,
car alarms and auto accessories.
Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products
in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors,
radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront).
Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar
products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want
a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront).
Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is
ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or
forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer
products.
Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through
our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords,
questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple..
the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not
buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake
by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop
up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person)
with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.
No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever!
They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake!
Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are
proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with
the newest products.
Sony
M600 in Honda S2000
|
Problem:
Honda S2000 -
Great sports car, radio in a odd location in front of the
short shifter. What to do...hmmmm
Answer:
Let
AUTOTOYS.COM handle it. Install a joystick remote control
next to the shifter in the area where your hand will rest
between shifts.

Products
used:
SONY M600 DUAL FACE MOTORIZED RADIO (see radio department/shop
now)
SEE OUR CAR RADIO DEPARTMENT
SONY
RMX 4s WIRED REMOTE (see wired remote section/misc remote
controls - search under RMX)
AUTOTOYS
HONDA TYPE II plug in harness (See dash kit department)
HARNESS HERE
Total
time for installation? Under 30 minutes.
Notes:
The M600 is a great radio. It provides a motorized display
which will flip down with another display showing track
time, etc and full controls of the radio. When the radio
is in the close position the BLACK face radio (you won't
even know it is a radio) shines through with weird and cycling
spectrum displays. Very nice.
UPDATE: Current SONY models are
SONY M630, M730, etc -- SEE OUR RADIO DEPARTMENT!!

The
trim around the factory simple snaps out, at that point, remove
the screws to gain access to the ractory radio. Unplug the
blue power harness from the factory radio. Below, you see
our PLUG IN HARNESS all ready to go! Stop hacking up your
cars! Buy our special harness in our DASH KIT department!

Mount
the factory brackets into the holes which are marked for TOYOTA
(or T) on the side of the radio. Use the screws that come
with your new radio. This will ISO din mount your radio. Before
you shoot your screws in, if you are installing a M600 and
want to keep the trim piece, also shoot in the screws and
hold in the TRIM PIECE HOLDER mounts. (see instruction manual)

This
is the holder for the RMX4S wired remote control. We trimmed
it away with a pair of scissors. We then cut a small hole
in the carpet to run the wire (which plugs into the back of
the Sony M600 radio)

This
is a picture of the wired remote mounted. It controls almost
if not all of the major functions of the radio. After a while,
you won't even need to look at the radio to control it. Mute
and other important keys also built in.
