BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 10 years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

LEXUS GS400 RADIO INSTALL

THIS ARTICLE UPDATE WITH MORE PICTURES (SEE BOTTOM)
04.01.2002

This is the first part of our AUTOTOYS.COM install of a Pioneer DVD 7300 (search under 7300 at http://store.autotoys.com) DVD 7 inch screen in a Lexus GS400 vehicle.

Since there were ‘no’ answers on the radio install in these type of vehicles, we decided to write a tech article for the radio installation. As we did in 1998 when we wrote our security install for the GS400 (article in tech section 1998).

*Stop wasting time with other companies* - We install the products, we know how it works, we offer the best prices and service.

Also installed in this vehicle was a Pioneer AVIC 9 DVD Navigation system, voice activated.

We also mounted a CD changer Pioneer CDX 670 in the vehicle.

We integrated the factory Nakamichi system to the aftermarket P7300DVD/AVMP8000 Radio.

A “METRA” wire harness was used in this vehicle. Use what we use in our own installs, ask us! See our dash kit department at http://store.autotoys.com.

We custom designed a dash kit for the car.

WE CAN DO THIS FOR YOU!

If you own a Lexus GS300/400 and if you are interested in this Navigation system (live in the NY/NJ) area, we can do this install for your Lexus ‘on site’ . It easy now!

Navigation, 7 inch monitor, CD changer, DVD player, Voice activated, all nice and tight in your Lexus GS!

UPDATE:
A dash kit for LEXUS GS vehicles is now available,

SEE ALL LEXUS GS DASH KITS HERE

Some of the products used in this install:

Pioneer AVXP7300DVD

Pioneer AVIC 9DVD Navigation

Pioneer AVMP8000R A/V visual control module (AM/FM tuner)

AUTOTOYS 5.0 Headrest Monitors. This is the one we used,- tested others for fit, quality and look. Ours fit the best.

Momo shift knob was also changed in this vehicle. Search under MOMO at http://store.autotoys.com

See our AUTO A/V department for the audio/video stuff and the monitors

This is the original Nakamichi Radio.

Factory radio out of this car.

News: We have loaned this radio and changer package to a local Converter Manufacturer. Perhaps one day we will get a Lexus aftermarket changer. AUTOTOYS.COM will be the first to announce it!

Only available in our forums.

This picture shows how we made and attached our Lexus dash kit. Buy the products from us, or have a question ask us in our forums.
This picture shows you how we wired the Nakamichi system to the car. This picture shows you the correct layout and which wires to used, a few wires needs to be switched.
A special converter is required.
This is the factory changer. If you want to remove the factory changer, we’ll tell you how to take it out easily without getting to the passenger airbag area.
5 MISSING PHOTOS HERE!
Important shots showing how to mount the dash kit and DIN cage into the car and final shots of the entire car.

Updated 4.02.2002

Pictures of the AVMP 8000R in action with it's Graphic Display Interface. 50 watts x 4, AM/FM/TUNER interfaced with the 7 inch Pioneer monitor. Everything on the screen.

Controlled by a steering wheel remote (optional in some packages)

Just a few of the setup screens. LOTS MORE not shown. All in full glory color.

We replaced the factory nakamich changer.

Didn't want to cut. Used a Pioneer changed. Did some custom work, mounted the changer upside down. Why cut and ruin the car.

Picture of AVX P7300 DVD mounted in dash.

Our autotoys 5.0 headrest. Only one that we were able to fit between the seams.

AUTOTOYS 5.0 Headrest Monitors. This is the one we used, buy it right here - tested others for fit, quality and look. Ours fit the best.

Show of the inside of the driver's seat. Shows lumbar support motor and side air bag wires. Got wires through from monitor. Our monitor is easier to install because it uses a single small din cable (much like a Svideo cable) and all the power, video, etc is carried through that cable to an external box. This means a lot when you are installing and running through tight spaces.

As you can see, we ran it through without cutting ANYTHING. If you buy the monitor from us, we'll tell you how in our forums or we can do the entire install for you.
Nice for the kids

Shown is the GPS antenna (magnet) for the NAV. Thats all you need. No need for vehicle speed sensor wires.
