BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 25 years.
Online for over 17+ years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!):
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

YUKON OVERHEAD & HEADREST MONITORS

This article features an install we recently did in an GMC YUKON XLT (2002)
Since over $3,000 worth of equipment was installed in this vehicle, I am sure this can give an idea to owners of Yukons, Tahoes, Surburbans and other large trucks an idea where to start. How to install video equipment in your SUV and also features the quality products found at AUTOTOYS.COM

Please tell your friends and clubmates about this article & autotoys.com

Over 3k worth of equipment was put in this truck. The owner came to AUTOTOYS and operates a fleet of vehicles which services private clients and famous celebrities from location A to location B in New York City.

AUTOTOYS.COM needed to upgrade the truck with video for the 2nd and 3rd row client passengers.

First we tackled the radio, we removed the factory radio and installed an AM/FM/CD player from Pioneer (4400) with an DIGITAL XM tuner. This allowed his passengers the opportunity to pick a channel from over 100 different commercial free channels. We then integrated an RB10 AUX interface to feed the sound directly from the in car video. The in car video consists of an Microsoft X-BOX, our AUTOTOYS VCR with TV tuner, Video amplifiers, 2 headrest monitors and an 13 inch flip down monitor. We also upgraded all the lightbulbs in the truck (headlights, etc) and also placed neon throughout the truck (which can be defeated via a switched). Next we added an Amplifier and a 12 inch sub to finish the music system and also to give the bass for the video playing.

This is our 13.3 inch monitor. Special techniques on how to mount this bad boy in this truck. Also, we'll tell you how to keep the rear a/c working. But thats only if your purchase is made through autotoys.com -- this 13.3 monitor is fairly inexpensive. If you have the ROOM, buy it! See our auto a/v department under FLIP down monitors
This a pan shot from the 3rd row seats.Almost perfect right?
This is our KOVE woofer ready to be amplified

This is our 12 inch bandpass box. Since the customer has different cargo requirements minute to minute, we put QUICK disconnect on this baby. We also put a 10 inch neon tube inside, also on quick the very same quick disconnect.

Like it? See our SPEAKER department under BOXES. 10 inch bandpass single.

The binding post.

This is the wiring for the amplifier. We wanted to use the factory battery terminals with an extended terminal adapter (available in our tools department under GM BATTERY TERMINAL EXTENDER), but we had already locked the store and were too lazy to open it back up.

It worked out - we drilled another hole to rull the amp power cable in. If you have a question about it, ask us in our forums

Custom mounted a illuminated toggle switch in one of the blank panels. If you study our wiring, we also built in a fuse for the switch. This switch is used to control all the neons in the truck.
Our RCA cables, remote wire, Amplifier power cables, Amplifier Remote Bass control all coming into places.
All placed and wired (lit)
Running wires

This shows the Pioneer DEH P4400 AM/FM/CD player mounted using our 99+ Chevy C/K dash kit

Search under 4400 for the radio. It is playing the BPM channel from XM RADIO

(see our DASH KIT department for the same kit! Only one kit will fit. You also need a wire harness, search under 1858 at http://www.autotoys.com/x/home.php and the GM antenna adapter) to make it all work. Since this truck had ONSTAR, you need our custom ONSTAR interface also which has built in switching relays (no amplifier or extra speakers needed! and plug and play!)

Flip down faceplate
The instructions that come with the Optiview 560H monitors is WRONG. To power it up, some adjustments need to be made. Ask us in our forums

We cut the headrest for 5.6 monitor. Some special notes need to be made on installing this monitor in Yukons, tahoes, etc with the adjustable angles.

We will also tell you how to cut the headrest and how to RUN THE WIRES through the headrest, down the seat, etc WITHOUT cutting any wires, any part of the underside of the headrest or cutting ANY part of the main leather seat. Only one way to do it!

Ask us in our forums

We spent 2 hrs on this. So unless you have been installing for a long time, you are probably going to rip your leather, cut leather where it doesnt need to be cut or worse. You can avoid all those pitfalls and get the job done QUICKLY and easily because we already done it (scouted it). The second monitor was installed in under 30 minutes (which includes cutting and running the wires down)

As you can see, the 560H we sell from Optiview matches the Interior perfectly with it's glossed tax paint and gloss black innner monitor finish.

You also need to secure the monitor (ask us how in the forums)

Want this? Search under OPTIVIEW or see our AUTO A/V department under REGULAR MONITORS

This is one of the neon tubes on the middle passenger side seat. 10 inch was too short, we used an 15 inch tube. This photo was taken during daytime, at nightime, it GLOWS!
Side shot of the left middle seat using a 20 inch neon rod in blue with our Blaupunkt 2100 amp in the middle.
