BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several
hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real
cars for over 25 years.
Online for over 17+ years, when you buy a product from us,
we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands
of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your
installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio,
car alarms and auto accessories.
Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products
in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors,
radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront).
Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar
products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want
a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront).
Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is
ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or
forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer
products.
Sales People (be careful!):
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through
our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords,
questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple..
the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not
buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake
by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop
up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person)
with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.
No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever!
They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake!
Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are
proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with
the newest products.
Dash
light changing bulbs in a Mitsubishi Galant using 194 wedge bulbs
from PIAA
|
ANOTHER!! Autotoys.com
installation.
We
get a lot of emails concerning the dash lights and gauge
clusters in many Japanese and American cars. I get yellow
light out from the back of my dash, what can I do.Now
we'll take apart a dash of a 2001 Galant and tell you what
you'll need.
The
illumination color of this Galant was extremely yellow.
No surprise. The factory uses yellow hue 194/168 bulbs in
many of the dash locations.
Do a search under 194 in our storefront, you will find more
than 20 types of 194 bulbs from over 10 manufacturers, always
in stock in AUTOTOYS.COM
Now,
how do you change the light effect of your factory dash
to a bright white light (or blue, or purple or whatever
color you want). Well, first take apart the dash board of
your car and see what type of bulb your car uses in the
dash gauge cluster. Most cars, Japanese and especially Hondas
will use 194/168 bulbs and many other cars will also use
this size as it is the most common and fits the gauge clusters
the best. This bulb can also be found in locations such
as air vent lights, ash tray lights, domelights, glove compartments,
map lights, and even the shift cluster light.
PLEASE
PLEASE do not write us what size your car uses for any part
of these locations. We can help you with headlight sizing
of your car, but we just do not have enough documentation
to verify sizing in all the available types of vehicles
on the road today.
Please remove the part you want to upgrade and 'check' for
the 194/168 size bulb
By
simply changing the bulb, you can change the yellow light
to a bright white light or color (if you use a color bulb
available in our bulbs department). It will kinda give you
a bright white effect (without the yellow hue) if you use
a superwhite type replacement bulb.
SEE 194 / 168 BULBS HERE
We
only recommend this for show use only, you perform
these modifcations at your own risk. The bulbs we replaced
in this article were 5 watt factory which were replaced
with 5 watt aftermarket bulbs.

After
picture shown. Notice HOW WHITE it is just by changing
the bulbs. We need to use 5 for this cluster (5 bulbs)
The
yellow illumination is gone from the surrounding area,
it is much whiter now (note: The needle and other areas
do change, only what was originally illuminated by the
194 factory type yellowish bulbs)

This article
shows you how to change the yellowish illumination from
your factory bulbs. It will give you illumination without
the yellow, which to the naked eye seems brighter. It will
not make your dash lights any brighter, only dress it up
a bit
