The car featured in this article is a Toyota Camry 4 Door 1989 generation model. We used an Crimestopper 2005 FM alarm with remote start paging unit. We’ll highlight some parts of the installation in this article and then continue to showcase the features of this extraordinary system. When you read this article, keep in mind every single part we used including the wires and connectors are available for sale in our TOOLS department in our storefront. parking light wire is (+) green solid in the driver’s
kick panel. The door trigger wire is (-) in driver’s
kick panel.

The
doorlock wires are 3 wire negative trigger.
The
colors are light green and dark green. Note, even t though
this car is a 1989, the same color wires are used all the

You
will need a positive brake shut down wire for the remote start.
This will shut down the remote start when you enter the vehicle
and step on the brake. It is (+) and the common wire for toyotas
is green with a white stripe, located at the brake switch.

You
will need a few connections at the harness. We grabbed the
wires at the ignition harness.
Constant
power is white with red and white (+), black/yellow is IGN
1, Black/orange is ignition 2, pink/blue is accessory wire

We
mounted our module next to the speaker box. Nice and out of
the way, almost 8 10 mm bolts need to be removed to get to
the module.

will need to remove the speaker grill and the two 10mm bolts
shown with the arrows and detach the plug from the dimmer
rheostat.

is the trunk trigger wire we started to run to the back. Just
tuck it under the sills. Easy!

the car being locked after it has locked the doors and received

This
shows all the functions on the remote control. We will go
through what this ALARM remote start does and what it shows
when it pages back. Some of the functions are:
See that little rotary fan on the right lower right hand corner? That will flash with a KEY when the car receives a START command from the remote. The car will then start and send a signal back. After it has started, the little fan will rotate to show that the car has started. The Call button will show when someone breaks into your car and will show how they tried to break it. Doors, trunk, shock etc. The
doors (not shown in picture) will flash if you arm the alarm
and leave a door open (VERY COOL!) The remote will also show when you are out of range. This unit will also when you arm and disarm the car, when the doors lock and unlock It will confirm when you send a trunk release command and when the trunk opens. You can also check the function of the car and status (if remote started, armed, etc) by pressing 2 buttons together. This
unit was TACHLESS, we set it to TACHLESS mode and it flawlessly
started the automatic transmission vehicle without any additional
tach reference or wire to the coil or distributor! EASY!

We are very impressed with the function and reliability of this unit. It worked flawlessly, it sent the signals through walls (although I cannot guarantee performance in all situations), it worked a lot better than ‘normal’ remotes. When we falsed the alarm, it always sent the signal to the remote/pager and we always knew the status of the car. It was quite easy to install, although it did not come with a starter kill relay or harness, it does have an output and we just added one (pick one up from our alarm department). The confirmation beeps and the status screen was a BIG plus. We can see this being a trend in the future. Remotes will not only be stationary objects which disarm/arm your car, but like this unit, we feel they should provide function as well. BEFORE
