BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 10 years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

Orange wire is for the Trunk (-) , no need to run a wire to the trunk.

Very simple? When everything is explained to you.

These are the harnesses on the PASSENGER side fuse panel. The orange wire is the UNLOCK, the BLACK with blue is the LOCK wire. Both of these wires will ARM and DISARM the factory alarm when it receives a (-) pulse and also unlock and lock the door. The BLACK/WHITE wire underneath is the sense wire for the doors. No need for domelight supervision, when you unlock the doors, the factory alarm will do it automatically.

PHOTO EXPLAINS IT ALL!

Acura 2000 TL

Where to run the siren wire into the car, we used a factory grommet.

Picture shown below could not show the actual grommet, but in our car, there was only one.

Our ground wire connection. One wire goes to our main alarm, the second ground wire goes to our SIREN. We use a factory ground point. Note the nice crimp and connector, the connector and crimper can both be found online in our storefront in our TOOLS department.

Our factory ground point, 10mm

ALWAYS USE FACTORY GROUND POINTS when possible, that is an AUTOTOYS.COM motto!

USE THIS GROUND POINT IN THE PICTURE!!

ANOTHER SHOT

Since our alarm had a negative output 2nd channel, we need to wire in a relay to pop the trunk which used a (+) input. Notice the purple wires, we jumped it from terminal 30 and 86 to a fused 12 volt source, the red white wire is our NEGATIVE input aux 2 from our alarm, the black white wire is our + output to our trunk pop wire. Some alarms we sell have internal relays built in for trunk pop/aux 2. The relays, connectors and wires used in this accessory is available in our TOOLS department or search under RELAY.

Our power connections, we striped the white wire back (12V) to make sure our T-TAP connector will fit properly. The BLACK/YELLOW wire is 12 volt ignition and the BLACK WHITE wire is the starter kill wire.

We wired it properly, it arms and disarms the factory alarm on lock and unlock.

Have you ever visited less competent installers who use the wrong wires and you need to disarm your factory alarm separately?
