BACK TO DIY 2000 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 10 years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

ACCORD V6 AIR INTAKE

This is how we got our MATRIX AIR INTAKE for HONDA ACCORD V6 1995-1997 to work. It took a bit of work, but we’ll tell you how to do it.

This intake is available in our # AUTOTOYS #2 section in our storefront under MATRIX (HONDA ACCORD) for sale at the lowest discounts!

See our INTAKE DEPT HERE

Remember, only AUTOTOYS.COM can give you the best possible support for all of your automotive accessories and discount the products to near wholesale levels! Tell your club, tell your friends -- don’t keep it a secret!

Shown is the stock air filter. Removal is easy. Get a 10mm socket and a #2 philips head screwdriver.

Remove the 10mm bolt on the driver side shock tower. Remove the 10mm bolt to the front of the air filter

Remove the spring rubber band which holds the air filter to the vent going to the engine manifold. Pull it up and move it out of the way. REMOVE the air filter.

Turn wheel to left, remove clips holding the panels above your tire wheel well.

Look down, there will be one 10mm bolt, remove that, push splash panel out of way in tire wheel, look for other 10mm bolts, REMOVE ENTIRE intake assembly which attached to the air filter located towards the front of the car. You can leave it, its up to you, but its ugly.

Remove the screw securing the vent to your manifold. Remove entire assembly.

There will be one attachment into the rubber intake, it is metal. Measure. Get a pipe cutter (small one), go around the metal tube, REMOVE part of the tube so it does not rub up against your brand new shiny intake.

The kit came with a blue hose, we need to use a RACTIVE HOSE adapter kit because the hose it came with was not long enough to reach where we need it to go. You will notice that there is a RED hose going into the intake and from there another blue hose. The blue hose is joined to the red one and then to the engine.

How did we do this?

Again, AUTOTOYS.COM figured out a simple solution. Remember that extra piece of metal you cut off earlier with the pipe cutting? That spare pipe makes a EXCELLENT way to join the 2 hoses. We also used the factory clamps as you can see in the picture.

How did we secure the filter? We made 2 90 degree bends on the bracket it came with, so it will rest on top of the bracket. We then drilled a hole into the intake and secured it with one 10mm bolt which threaded down. We used an existing 10mm bolt in the vehicle which was holding a bushing to secure the other side of the 90 degree bracket.

The filter MAY rub the side of the car slightly if you hit a bump, next we used a piece of self adhesive padding and stuck it next to the filter and we was done.

Its that simple!

The owner of the car immediately felt a LOT more TORQUE (not horsepower) and the car sounds great even with the stock exhaust.
