BACK TO *1999* YEAR TECH SUMMARY | BACK TO DIY 2000-2006 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 17 years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

Shown is a 1998 ACCORD COUPE (may apply for 4 doors as well, see our separate install for rear speakers in a 4 door Accord). Changing the front speakers, performed by the crew of AUTOTOYS.COM - We used Pioneer 1648 speakers because of the low slim profile depth of the front doors.

Shown above is where there are screws, there is one screw near the door handle. Note, the cap does NOT come off, it simple flips one way to reveal the screw, do not break it by accident! After removing the screw, slide the entire assembly forward towards the front of the car, detach doorlock harness and door handle rod. The arrow points to where there is also another screw holding the door panel in place. After this is removed, the entire panel snaps outward from the bottom out.

You may want to remove the trim in the corner of the doors. Shown above is where the clips are holding in the trim piece.

NOTE: Factory speakers (ugh) .. terrible!

Note: NEW PIONEER 1648 speakers (which are under $80.00 a pair) with new coaxial tweeter and superior construction. Compare to picture in figure 2 of factory speaker. If you can see the difference, imagine hearing the difference. Notice SC7800 to the right of the speaker, this is a PLUG IN CONNECTOR for ALL HONDAS which SOUND CONCEPTIONS (AUTOTOYS.COM) stocks for immediate delivery. This part is under $10.00 a pair and will VIRTUALLY PLUG your new speakers into the EXISTING factory plug without any cutting! AUTOTOYS.COM stocks all harness, kits and adapters for immediate delivery with your order to get your installation going QUICKLY and hassle free! The 1648 speakers from Pioneer has multiple hole locations, we used them and used the factory screws to secure the unit into place in factory screw hole locations. Note the 4 extra tabs on the outside diameter of the speaker, this is new for 1998 and this makes this speaker oversized 6.75 compatible for many GM and Japanese vehicles!

Shown above is the speaker with the PLUG in harness attached. The plug in harness is part 7800 in the SPEAKER harness section under HONDA (dash kit, in our storefront)

Shown above is the factory speaker removed from it's housing

Shown above is the factory speaker to the left shown side by side to the new Pioneer 1648 speakers to the right.

Shown above is the speakers mounted into the vehicle. Note: We used the factory screws (silver ones) mounting it into the factory screw holes! No additional holes were drilled or any wires cut in this installation!

Well, thats it! Any questions, email us and be sure to visit our speaker section for some unbelievable deals.
