BACK TO *1999* YEAR TECH SUMMARY | BACK TO DIY 2000-2006 TECH SUMMARY

Introduction:
This is an autotoys.com installation. One of several hundred by the staff of autotoys.com
This article is a sample of knowledge gained by working on real cars for over 18 years.
Online for over 10 years, when you buy a product from us, we give you real support when you need it.
Instant access to answers through our customer forums. With thousands of customers, avoid delays, errors and miscalculations in your installation.. buy from autotoys.com - your outlet for car audio, car alarms and auto accessories.

Products:
If you have an interest in any of the products in this article, everything featured (electrical tape, connectors, radio, alarm, wire ties, rca cables, diodes, screws --- everything is available 'now' (FOR SALE!) through our storefront). Remember, there may be many manufacturers out there who sell similar products as the ones featured in our articles, but if you want a problem-free smooth professional install, your only guarantee is to buy the same parts we use (see our storefront). Any slight difference in any of the parts and your install is ruined (plus you won't have access to our post sale support or forums). Especially important for alarm, radio and OEM changer products.

Sales People (be careful!)::
Everyday, we get dozens of requests through our chat & ticket support system, request for forum passwords, questions on installation problems or questions. We can only focus on questions from our customers. The questions are simple.. the answers are simple - but these people, because they did not buy from AUTOTOYS.COM cannot get an answer. Dont make a mistake by buying through auctions, fly by night operations or new pop up websites who are just a voice over the phone (a sales person) with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE.

No experience installing in cars, no experience what-so-ever! They barely know the products they sell! Don't make that mistake! Make sure your purchase is from autotoys.com. These articles are proof we know what we are doing and that we WORK IN CARS! We work on the newest cars with the newest products.

The following articles is about a installation in an Nissan Altima. The products we used were a Premier DEHp1R Am/Fm/CD player, DIN size universal pocket with special slots for CD jewel cases- available in DASH KIT department (storefront), Pioneer 51 disc changer , Eurolite headlight bulb in our bulb section, 95+ Nissan harness, Rockford Fosgate 1160 amplifier, Stinger Hyper and Venom Rca Cables, Velcro and connectors

Shown is Stinger Hyper Series cables, we used the 12 foot lengths to run the wires from behind the radio location to under the passenger seat. This is a new 1999 product from Stinger and we are very excited about it. It is a balanced twisted pair of cables in a transparent blue finish, 24k connectors. Because it is a twister pair cable, the cable is VERY small (one per pair) and can be ran under even the thinnest of carpets and noise rejection is at the maximum. AUTOTOYS.COM is an Authorized Internet Stinger Retailer. 2 pairs were used, one for the front channel, one for the rear.

A Pioneer premier P1R with motorized face was used in this installation.

3 trim and gap fillers come with the universal din pocket to fill all applications, custom or factory. WE LOVE THIS KIT! Since it’s introduction, we have used it over and over. It has already been covered and used in 2 of our DIY 1999 articles.

2 types of aftermarket screws (in our TOOLS department in our storefront) were used to bolt the factory cup holder and the DIN pocket in place (notice one has a larger head and the other has a smaller one). One screw cannot fill all application

The installation was done because of a theft recovery. We took the new factory bolt in side brackets, bolted in a new cup holder, our universal din pocket and then the Pioneer radio into the factory bolts. Because the factory bolts were not available, we used screws and machine screws available in our TOOLS 3 department in our storefront.

ALL SCREWED UP!

All of our RCA patch cables ran behind the dash to the radio, FRONT AND REAR HYPER STINGER CABLES, and our subwoofer VENOM STINGER CABLE

We ran a extra tracer wire (18 gauge, always in stock, sold by the foot in our TOOLS DEPARTMENT) for the 4 channel F/R amplifier remote line. We tied this in with the remote wire off the STINGER VENOM cable.

Shown is our PLUG in harness for this 1995+ radio.

This allowed us to wire the new radio without cutting any wires.

AUTOTOYS.COM is staffed by REAL INSTALLERS. We have all the kits and harnesses in stock, before you start to cut and hack up your vehicle, email us for the proper kit and harness for your vehicle when you a new radio from us! MOST HARNESSES start at $6.00 - Remember, our harnesses COME FROM THE BEST COMPANIES. Extra thick, in some instances (see the harness in this picture), it is labeled with designations, the harnesses we provide are the best. Not all harnesses are made the same! KEEP THAT IN MIND.

SOUND CONCEPTIONS is an authorized Metra and Best Harness retailer. We offer the best kits and harnesses available! We also carry Schosche, American International and more!

When you BUY a wire harness from us, we provide FREE INSULATED butt connectors with the harness. This allows you to make a quick and secure installation. NO OTHER COMPANY DOES THIS!

Since this was a theft recovery installation, the original screws and bolts we missing.

We went and took some machine screws and bolted the radio/pocket and cupholder into place.

You need to remove the panel around the radio to unbolt the factory radio. DO NOT PULL on the panel on the left, there is a philips head screw holding that panel in place. You need to remove the driver side knee bolster to get to the screw.

continued in part ii

A set of STINGER VENOM 17 foot 5.5 mm rca cables were used for the subwoofer output of the P1R and ran to the trunk for a future subwoofer installation.  The venom series features a great color scheme, we used it because it offered great noise rejection and because it has a remote line wire built into the center of the cable! Great to turn on our subwoofer amp!
